Dear Expectant Parents

Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your child. We invite you to attend our Prepared Childbirth Education Program, taught by certified childbirth educators who are all experienced Johns Hopkins Labor, Delivery, and Maternity nurses. Our program also includes Breast Feeding and Sibling Preparation Classes.

Parents must register in advance for all classes. You will be scheduled to complete the Prepared Childbirth Classes approximately four to six weeks before your due date, allowing you adequate time to prepare for labor with confidence.

It is important that your instructor knows in advance of any medical issues that may limit your participation in the program. Please have your physician complete the Medical Information section on the Registration Form (can be downloaded as a doc file). This will allow the instructor to modify the program to meet your needs.

Educational materials are provided during classes and each participant will receive a copy of Book I of Journey to a Healthy Baby, specially designed for Hopkins patients, from her healthcare provider during her pregnancy. Participants will receive a copy of Book II after her baby is born.

The Prepared Childbirth Series is held at the hospital location designated in your confirmed registration letter. Please call 410-955-5502 for full class descriptions.

The Breast-feeding and Sibling classes are scheduled at The Johns Hopkins Hospital Birthing Center, 600 North Wolfe Street. When your payment and completed physician/midwife section on the Registration Form have ben received, confirmation, driving directions, and parking information will be mailed to you.
