Jean R. Anderson, M.D., FACOG Dr. Anderson has a special commitment to women living with HIV infection. She has provided reproductive health care for these women since 1988 and founded the Johns Hopkins HIV Women's Health Program, which she continues to direct. This program provides a full range of reproductive health services for both pregnant and nonpregnant HIV-infected women, with an emphasis on continuity of care, access to cutting edge therapies and to clinical trials, and peer support and participation. Dr. Anderson is on several national committees formed by the U.S. Public Health Service to develop guidelines for the management of antiretroviral therapy in adults and adolescents, in pregnant women, and for prevention of opportunistic infections in HIV-infected persons. She is an active participant in clinical research in the area of HIV in women and is a coinvestigator in the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, an NIH-supported multicenter collaboration. She lectures widely on the subject of HIV regionally, nationally, and internationally, and is the author of numerous publications. Most recently, she is the editor and a primary author of A Guide to the Clinical Care of Women with HIV, the first book to address the special issues faced by women with HIV. This book is currently being translated into Mandarin at the request of the Chinese government.
