Genetic counselors discuss the chances for an offspring to have a birth defect or genetic condition and the benefits and risks of prenatal or carrier testing. Perinatologists perform procedures including chorionic villus sampling (CVS), amniocentesis and ultrasound and are available for obstetric consultation.
