The Prenatal Diagnostic and Treatment Center offers genetic counseling and a variety of testing options before and during pregnancy. Indications for referral include a maternal age of 33 or greater, abnormal maternal serum screening results, family history concerns and abnormal sonogram results.

Genetic counselors discuss the chances for an offspring to have a birth defect or genetic condition and the benefits and risks of prenatal or carrier testing. Perinatologists perform procedures including
chorionic villus sampling (CVS), amniocentesis (amnio), and ultrasound and are available for obstetric consultation.
